Bangsar, 16 December 2016 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or “The Group”), the leading fully- integrated media company in Malaysia, was announced as Asiamoney’s Best Managed Company (Small Cap) across 13 Asian markets, yesterday.

The coveted recognition was the result of an extensive poll conducted earlier by the financial publication, inviting equities’ heads of research and financial analysts to nominate the best managed listed companies in Asia. The poll covered companies with market capitalisation under US$1 billion from 13 countries, including Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam.

At the same time, under Asiamoney’s Corporate Governance Poll 2016, Media Prima was voted Best for Disclosure and Transparency and Best for Corporate Social Responsibility categories in Malaysia. Media Prima’s results at the 2016 Corporate Governance Poll are as follows:

Commenting on the win, Datuk Seri FD Iskandar, Media Prima’s Group Chairman said, “This is indeed a great honour and privilege for the Media Prima to be acknowledged as Best Managed Company across 13 countries in Asia. In this Asiamoney poll, nominated companies were evaluated based on several key factors, including product/service innovation, rising market share, leadership in industry, financial performance, consistency of performance, executive leadership and corporate governance.

In Malaysia during the 2013 Asiamoney polls, Media Prima was voted Best Overall for Corporate Governance, Best for Disclosure and Transparency, Best for Responsibilities of Management and the Board of Directors, and Best for Investor Relations.

In 2014, Media Prima was again honoured in the Asiamoney Corporate Governance Poll when it won Best for Disclosure and Transparency as well as the Best for Investor Relations awards (in Malaysia).

Last year, Media Prima received similar recognition when named Commonwealth Media of the Year 2015 by the Commonwealth Businesswomen’s Network. This accolade followed UK-based publication Ethical Boardroom’s conferment of the Best Corporate Governance, Media Company, Asia 2015 award to Media Prima also.

Asiamoney, a financial publication established in 1989, is a division of global media group Euromoney Institutional Investor Plc., which is majority owned by the London-based Daily Mail and General Trust Group. The Asiamoney Best Managed Companies Poll 2016, which was conducted between May to July this year, enabled invited independent market analysts, financial analysts and heads of research to nominate companies in the market which they specialise in. In addition to the Best Managed Small Cap Company category, three other categories on offer within the first section of the poll include Best Managed Medium Cap (with a market cap of US$1 to US$5bn), Best Managed Large Cap (market cap of over US$5bn), and Best Executive.

In the second section of the poll, respondents were invited to nominate companies with the best corporate governance practices. The award categories include Best for Disclosure and Transparency, Best for Shareholder’s Rights and Equitable Treatment, Best for Accountability and Ethics, Best for Investor Relations, and Best for Corporate Social Responsibility.

As a monthly financial publication, Asiamoney reports and offers analysis on the financial and investment markets for capital issuers, borrowers, institutional investors and senior corporate and government monetary decision makers with business interests in Asia Pacific.
