KUALA LUMPUR, 27 March 2020 – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima”) would like to extend its gratitude to everyone who generously contributed to the Bantuan Kemanusiaan COVID-19, an on-going fundraising campaign via the Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund (“MPNHF”) to assist the Government in the nationwide fight against the virus outbreak. 

The contributions to the campaign, launched on 23 March 2020, have facilitated the distribution of essential medical equipment and supplies to Hospital Shah Alam, Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Sungai Buloh. This first phase of the disbursement of public donations involved the purchase and delivery of two ventilator machines to Hospital Shah Alam, supply of materials for the do-it-yourself (“DIY”) face-shields for front liners at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, and supply of food for front liners and medical personnel at Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Kuala Lumpur.  

The first ventilator was delivered to Hospital Shah Alam today and the second ventilator is expected to be delivered next week. The purchase of the two ventilators was made possible through Medik-Link Sales and Services Sdn Bhd, a registered supplier of the hospital, who will install and commission it according to the required specifications.

The DIY materials for the face-shields were delivered by Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur to Hospital Kuala Lumpur on 25 March 2020. The consignment was for the DIY of 2,000 pieces of disposable face-shields urgently required for the protection of their frontliners.  

Meanwhile, the supply of food for frontliners at both Hospital Kuala Lumpur and Hospital Sungai Buloh is ongoing and will be done in three phases starting today until next week.  The supply of food and DIY materials for face-shields to both hospitals were handled by Media Prima’s registered suppliers, Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur.

Datuk (Dr) Syed Hussian Aljunid, Group Chairman of Media Prima, said: “The timely disbursement of public donations to the hospitals is very crucial and we must ensure that the frontliners get the assistance they need when it is most needed. We would like to thank the public for the generosity and compassion by donating to this campaign. We would also like to thank our suppliers, Lulu Hypermarket and Department Store Kuala Lumpur and Medik-Link Sales and Services for their support.” 

“The COVID-19 crisis has affected the lives of so many Malaysians and we must rally together with compassion in combating this outbreak. We urgently appeal for public support and donations to the fund. We will continue to engage more hospitals nationwide to identify their urgent and critical needs,” added Datuk (Dr) Syed Hussian.

All donations received will go towards the purchase of critical medical equipment and other necessities to aid the recovery of patients affected by the outbreak. The funds will also be used to help frontliners to carry out their duties. 

Members of the public can make their donations through cheque, online banking or bank deposit to Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund (MAYBANK: 5141-0532-3170). Donors may email their bank transaction slip and mention COVID-19 to [email protected] for issuance of tax-exemption receipts.

All cheques can be made payable to Media Prima-NSTP Humanitarian Fund with ‘COVID-19’ written on the reverse side of the cheque and can be addressed to the Group Corporate Communications Department, Media Prima Berhad, Level 3, Anjung Liku, Balai Berita, 31, Jalan Riong, 59100 Bangsar, Kuala Lumpur.
