KUALA LUMPUR, 31 July 2020  – Media Prima Berhad (“Media Prima” or the “Group”), Malaysia’s leading fully-integrated media group, announced today that it has appointed Dato’ Khairul Anwar Salleh as the Chief Executive Officer of Media Prima Television Networks (“MPTN”) effective 1 August 2020. He will report to Dato’ Iskandar Mizal Mahmood, Group Managing Director of Media Prima. 

Dato’ Khairul has over 25 years of experience across the media and entertainment industry ranging from the arts, television and stage production, to content management in both entrepreneurial and corporate environments. He most recently served as Vice President of Malay and Nusantara Content Business of Astro Malaysia Holdings Berhad from March 2010. 

His career highlights include reshaping the entertainment industry with signature shows such as Maharaja Lawak and Gegar Vaganza, as well as multiple box office films namely Hantu Kak Limah, Paskal and Polis Evo 2. 

He has won multiple local and international awards including Malaysian Book of Records for ‘Longest Non-Stop Live Comedy Show 2014’, Anugerah Seri Angkasa 2005 for ‘Best Comedy Program’ – Ada-ada Saja, and was a finalist in New York Festivals 2001 for Anugerah Planet Music 2000. He was awarded ‘Best Single Drama or Telemovie’ at the Asian TV Awards for Tulus Ikhlas (Winner) in 2016 and Ana Anak Ibu (Highly Commended) in 2017.

Dato’ Khairul serves as an Executive Committee member of The Cultural Economy Development Agency (“Cendana”). He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Sculpture) from Curtin University of Technology, Western Australia in 1992 and a Diploma in Painting from La Salle College of Arts in 1989.
